This client approached us to update their outdated garden summer house.
They wanted to create an outdoor living space that they could use all year round and take advantage of the stunning views surrounding their beautiful home.
Firstly, we inspected the current location of the existing build and discussed ideal alterations to the landscape design that would make the most of the space available.
With a new layout and design concept agreed upon, our first hurdle was to get our design legally approved by the local council bodies.
This project was located within a conservation area, so we had to change a few things within the original design to make it blend more naturally with its surroundings; such as changing the external cladding to a natural “Carbon by Design “wooden cladding.
Once all the initial modifications had been approved, we were all set to work.
The terrain in which the new summer house was to be located was, shall we say “slightly challenging “.
We had to build a brand-new foundation and raise the ground levels in order to create a perfect levelled platform.
This involved having to insert a concrete strip footing, then build a concrete block/ stone wall foundation.
Now for the Luxury garden room to be built!
The light gauge steel frame was erected and all the structure bolted to the foundations.
Then it was time to concentrate on all the external finishes such as the cladding and slate roof etc.
Once the externals were completed and the full build was fully water tight, we shifted our focus on the inside.
Initially, we insulted the walls, floor and ceilings of the main structure.
Then followed the first stages of electrical work.
Before the electrical works could commence, we marked out all the locations for the lighting and socket points that would work with the design of the bar area we were going to create.
The client wanted a different style of ceiling rather than a standard flat ceiling with down lights, so we developed a pelmet line with subtle LED lights in order to give a relaxing natural ambient environment.
Once the ceiling was complete, the client chose a floor tile, that we then later installed.
The new Bar had been designed and constructed off site and was ready to install along with all the internal decorative wall cladding.
Once all this was in place and the next stage of electrical work were completed, it was time to make all the finishing touches.
Our client had a background in interior design, so she knew exactly what she wanted.
All the internal walls were then finished in a ‘Fillet De Seta’, Venetian Paint.
This really was a majestic touch to complete the build.
Finally, it was time to touch up all the external landscaping in order to really bring this project together.
A new Indian stone Patio was installed along with new access steps leading to the upper level.
Custom built glass Balustrades were then installed to secure the safety of the two different levels.
Lastly, the remodelled grass area was re-turfed and the project was ready to hand over to the client.
It’s been an absolute pleasure in bringing this project to life, so another one of our satisfied clients can enjoy their new outdoor living space for many years to come.
